Report on the Te Mania Angus Females selected by Ian Halliday of Ironstone Creek Angus Stud in November 2006.

06/03/2008 Andrew Gubbins

Thirty one 3 year old cows and 2 year old heifers were purchased with calves at foot by young Te Mania sires.

I believe the females would form a good foundation for the stud now and into the future.  Ian selected on suitability for the B3 market which includes good marbling figures.  The cows and heifers were all very stucturally sound.

20 of the cows are above the breed average for the B3 Breed Object Dollar Index, and all of the calves out fo these cows are above the breed average for the B3 Index. with 10 of the calves being in the 10% of the breed.

The mix of blood lines included some New Design 036 females, Future Direction, Te Mania Unlimited and Te Mania Zambia Z67.

The cows purchased have a great mix of high performing Estimated Breeding Values to suit the restaurant or supermarket trades.  They will be reliable breeders to produce genetics suitable for these trades.

10 cows are in the top 10% for growth

7 cows are in the top 10% for scrotal size

10 cows are in the top 15% for Yield

12 cows are in the top 20% for marbling
